Engine Bay Cleanup

Getting ready for the Battle of the Brits show, I decided the engine bay needed some sorting. First the cooling line that normally runs to the intake manifold I had bypassed with a hose and elbow fittings to route under the manifold.  Talking with Triumph club members they suggested just running the hose straight from the thermostat housing to the heater valve.  Besides appearance the straight route would improve flow and not allow as much chance of air to remain in the system. You can see the mess I started with from the heater value to the Therm. housing.

You can see how it was routed in this picture.

The bypass was coved with a rubber vacuum plug.

While doing the cooling changes I notice the carb covered with oil.  The vent system I set up to vent the crankcase was sending oil to the car.  See the old tee system.  I cleaned the carb and then cut a single hose to route to below the frame.  It's now black. I played with blue but it made it look like a supertuner.

The results.

We took 1st place in the Spitfire 1500 to 1978 category.  Also had the picture of my car included in the Detroit Triumph club 2004 calandar.
